Royal Resorts Participates in Earth Hour 2010Posted on Fri, Mar 26, 2010
As one of its environmental initiatives, Royal Resorts will be participating in the Earth Hour campaign on Saturday, March 27. In keeping with cities, towns, citizens and companies around the world, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. we will be turning the lights off in certain areas of the resorts as a symbolic gesture.
Lights will be turned off or dimmed in areas where there is no risk to guests or staff. Candles and tiki torches will also be used in some of the restaurants and there will be a special BBQ at Aqua Grill in The Royal Haciendas and open-air dining with grilled lobster, live jarocho music, flambéed desserts and Mayan Coffee at La Veranda in The Royal Sands.
Resort walkways will be illuminated and villa lighting will be unaffected although guests are invited to participate in this global event by switching off their lights and spending the hour relaxing on their villa terrace listening to the waves and watching the stars.
Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour seeks to draw attention to the toll that global warming is already taking on our planet and the need to reduce our consumption of fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
