Beach Restoration Starts at The Royal Mayan

January 6 and right on schedule, beach restoration is underway at The Royal Mayan. Project engineers ordered the closure of the beach in front of The Royal Mayan, The Royal Caribbean and The Royal Islander yesterday so that pipes and heavy machinery could be moved into place. We have just been informed that sand is now being pumped on to the beach at The Royal Mayan.
In other Royal Resorts beach news, the palapas at The Royal Sands have now been reinstalled.
Finally, representatives of the Beach Restoration Trust, the Secretary of Tourism for Mexico Rodolfo Elizondo, the Quintana Roo State Governor Felix Gonzalez Canto and the Mayor of Cancun Gregorio Sánchez met yesterday to discuss project progress, funding and future monitoring/maintenance. After some confusion over the New Year regarding a payment due from Cancún City Council, they announced that an agreement had been reached and that beach restoration will continue as planned. Over 60 percent of the Cancún shoreline has already been restored and the project is slated for completion in February.
We will be posting further websites as work progresses at the three Royal Resorts.

Dear Terri: Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News. We look forward to seeing you and your family. The beach is looking beautiful and the children will love it, how about organizing a sand castle competition for them or joining the Activities team when they organize one? Of course volleyball and other beach activities are also available. Have fun!

Dear Harriett: Thank you for writing to us. I imagine that after braving sub-zero temperatures and heavy snowfall in the midwest, you and your family are ready for some Mexican Caribbean sunshine. You will be pleased to hear that beach restoration at The Royal Islander is almost complete, in fact, we are waiting for the beach project engineers to tell us when the pipes will be removed. We will be posting photos and an additional update later today as soon as we have news. I hope that this helps and that you enjoy your vacation.

We are so excited to see that we will have our beautiful beach back. We have been coming to the Royal Islander every year for the past 15 years week 8 and 9 and we are very much looking forward to sitting on the beach again. Be prepared this year as we are bringing a large group of family with us including eight children who will be bringing all their pails and shovels!!

This will be my fourth trip to Cancun, and will love sitting under a palapas looking at that gorgeous turquoise water. The Islander always delivers. My family from the midwest will be joining me for the first time and I can’t wait to introduce them to the Royals.

I too am very excited as a relatively new owner of 3 yrs at the islander to see a big beautiful beach…it has gotten smaller and smaller over the last 3 yrs to the point of not being able to sit on beach without being stuck to the back wall.
we are bringing some friends this yr and can hardly wait to show off our beautiful new beach.
