We look forward to visiting with you in October. We have missed the friends whom we have made at the hospitality desk, pottery classes and the regulars we see each time we visit. The pictures of the beach and the hotel look very inviting. We hope to bring some friends with us.

Dear Susan: In response to your question, yes you can swim at The Royal Islander. The sand that was pumped on to the beach has covered up the rocks. If the flags flying on the beach are green (calm conditions) or yellow (care needed) you can venture into the water. A red flag denotes windy conditions, large waves and strong undertow and swimming is prohibited. You can check water conditions with resort staff and the lifeguard on duty, who will also be able to show you the best part of the beach for swimming. I hope that this helps.

Dear Terry: Thank you for writing in. Yes, the beach has been completely restored at The Royal Islander, the palapas have been reinstalled, new ones added and the Beach Bar is open! Have a wonderful vacation.

We are arriving at the Royal Islander on 2/20 and very much looking forward to this two week vacation. We have missed going to the beach in the last few years and we are looking forward to spending a lot of time relaxing on the beach this year. Are there plenty of palapas for everyone and is the Beach Bar open?

Dear Andrew: The Royal Sands was the first of the Royal Resorts to benefit from beach restoration. Work took place in December and we covered it on this blog and on http://www.royalresorts.com, publishing several updates, photos and videos. In fact, if you visit the Royal Resorts website and click on the webcam for The Royal Sands you will be able to see the beach. I hope that this helps and that you enjoy your vacation.

Dear Brian: Yes, the beach at The Royal Mayan, Caribbean and Islander is now open. In fact, by the time you and your family arrive for your vacation, the entire Cancun Beach project will be complete. Project engineers only have another 800 meters of shoreline to restore and they will have finished.

My family and I are vacatoning at the Royal Mayan 2/27-3/6. Will the beach front be open. From the looks of the pictures the restoration project is coming along and the beaches look great. Can’t wait t come.
