Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza, the ancient capital of the Itzae Maya, was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988 and voted one of the Seven New Wonders of the World in a 2007 global poll. At the height of its glory, A.D. 800 to 1150 (it was abandoned in 1250), Chichen Itza was a mighty city, dominating the Yucatan politically, commercially and militarily. It was also a sacred center where rulers and astronomers once watched the heavens for portents and priests made sacrifices to appease the gods.

Every Thursday, we invite our members and guests to share their best beach vacation pictures, as part of the #BeachThursday Twitter event. We select the best pictures and post them here, on our Facebook page, and our Twitter account. You can post your pictures at our Facebook page, Email us your pictures , tag us in your Facebook photo albums or, if you are currently on vacation with us, bring them to our offices at The Royal Sands. Just ask front desk for directions to the E-commerce Department and we’ll be happy to download your photos.
