About Us
The Royal Resorts Group
In 1974 the founders of Royal Resorts decided: “To build a vacation home that they themselves would like to own and to sell it in a way that they themselves would like to be sold.” A Cancun pioneer, Royal Resorts started on this premise and is still guided by it today.
In 1977, construction began on the company’s first resort Club Internacional de Cancun. The Royal Mayan opened in 1985, followed by The Royal Caribbean in 1988, The Royal Islander in 1993 and The Royal Sands & Spa in 2000. In 2006, Royal Resorts opened its first resort in the Riviera Maya, The Royal Haciendas, which is located in the Grand Coral beach and golf resort community, five minutes from Playa del Carmen.
Now with over 60,000 members, Royal Resorts has been among the top-rated resorts in the world since 1975. Our resorts have received the coveted Five Star Rating from Interval International every year since 1983 when the rating was first established. Since 2008, they have also been classified as Premier Resorts in the Interval International Resort recognition Program, the highest distinction awarded to resorts that offer an outstanding vacation experience.
The Timeshare Users Group first presented its annual Top Ten Worldwide Resort Awards in 1997. Out of 1,544 resorts rated, The Royal Islander, the Royal Caribbean and the Royal Mayan were all in the Top Ten. All three resorts have won awards for each year since and were joined by The Royal Sands in 2001 and The Royal Haciendas in 2008.
We are proud of our tradition of excellence and are committed to maintaining our high standards of service and quality. Always innovators, the developers of Royal Resorts operate their properties as five-star private clubs, limiting use to the members and other guests actually staying there.

I can’t remember this gentlemans name but I know this – he is the first face we usually see upon our arrival and each year he remembers us as if we never left and he has the same beautiful, welcoming smile. I love all the employees pictures and hope you continue to put many more on this site as they bring back so many memories of the past and the count down to our next visit. We have so enjoyed the 30 Years at the Royal Resorts book that we were happy to receive from a friend of ours who works there and it too has so many wonderful pictures and stories of the staff. Thank you.

In March 2009 we bought into Royal Resorts, we have recently been infomed that Royal Resorts are not affiliated to anyone therefore we will not be protected if anything goes wrong. Yes you’ve guessed right, it was another time share company that informed us of this. Is Royal Resorts affiliated/protected ?
October 19th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Thank you for your recent post. I am not completely sure that I understand the statement “Royal Resorts are not affiliated to anyone…”.
If the reference is to the fact that we are not associated with a large, publically traded hospitality brand, then I suppose we are not, but we see this as an advantage rather than an hindrance. We have been in business since 1977, have over 100,000 of the most satisfied members, 6 resorts in Mexico and one of the best track records of any company in the industry. All our resorts are affiliated with Interval International (II), one of the largest and highest quality exchange companies in the world. This affiliation allows members who maintain their II membership the opportunity to exchange their Royal Resorts vacation to over 2,000 resorts in more than 80 countries worldwide. All our resorts are in the highest tier of II resorts – Premier. Our resorts have also been recognized as providing outstanding customer service and have received recognition and top prizes from independent organizations such as Trip Advisor.
Instead of having to constantly concern ourselves with the share price of our company, we have, for more than three decades, focused on the needs and satisfaction of our membership base. We are also one of the few companies in the industry to offer true guarantees. Members do not need to make a reservation or check availability for the time period their own, they simply have to show up in the interval that they choose and the unit they picked is waiting for them.
If you could be so kind as to provide your name and membership details I can check your specific membership and provide you with any additional information that you may need.
Warm regards

I have been trying to find out the current exchange rate offered at the resort, but haven’t had much luck. My family and I will be arriving at the end of this week and wondered if we should exchange here (in Canada) or if the rate is as good or better there.
Thanks so much.

I have been an owner of time with The Royal Mayan for a number of years. What happens when the lease expires in 2014? Thks Wenda
December 21st, 2009 at 9:30 am
My Lord, I made the unfortunate mistake of exchanging week 40 to the week of 48 through Interval International. My husband & I are members of the Hacienda’s and have a membership in both of our names at Royal Resorts and Interval International. We also have another time share with Hyatt, but trade in regularly with Royal Resorts because we love it so much!
Anyway, whomever took my reservation thru Interval International failed to use my name, and used only my husbands. This created a HUGE problem upon check in, because my husband was not with me on vacation! Not only was I angry, because of delays with the flights, near misses with the connections, problems with the transportation, I was frightened and exhausted! The reception representative, Eleena further explained check in could not be processed because my name was not on the reservation and it was the resort policy. I grew increasingly frustrated and visibly angry. Eleena called Royal Resorts reservations to see if something could be changed in the system there since I was a member, Apparently since the reservation originated from Interval, the system could not be manipulated. I became teary eyed. Eleena offered to call Interval International to rectify the situation. She explained the error, and whomever she spoke the corrected the reservation by adding my name, and removing my husbands. It took a few minutes to flow thru the system, but it was done. Eleena processed my check in. I must applaud Eleena for her composure and patience. She handled herself beautifully in the most volatile of situations, because I was quite upset!

My stay was at the Royal Islander, in reference to my comment about Eleena. Please add that to my previous comment.

I emailed the guest services manager at the Royal Haciendas twice without a reply, what’s with that? I have a guest certificate #015147656 for week # 33. Is there two full size beds in the 2nd bedroom? What villa
number do I have? I.m a owner at Royal Islander week #34 villa #4343.
January 18th, 2010 at 11:13 am
Dear Elwood, Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News. I forwarded your query to our Advance Concierge department and to the Resort Manager at The Royal Haciendas and you may have already been contacted by them. If not, I am sure you will be shortly. The villas at The Royal Haciendas have a king-size bed in the Master bedroom, two full size beds in the second bedroom and two Murphy beds in the living area. I hope that this helps.

I am considering a royal resorts membership. They are wanting to acquire my previously owned timeshare to do so. What do they do with those timeshares? resell them? They are telling me I will no longer have to pay maintenance and taxes nor interval international fees. I’mconfused because I see here where people are talking about interval international being involved. Can someone clear that up for me please?
March 16th, 2010 at 9:26 am
What is the name of the person that own the 1 week stay at Royal Resorts for the month of February 2010 when we give in our written “comments” before leaving the Resort back home.
Why is THIS not made public every month since the “comments” says there is a draw every month?
March 18th, 2010 at 6:45 am
Dear Sara: Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News. The name of the February winner for the In Search of Excellence draw will be posted on http://www.royalresorts.com today I hope that this helps.
April 2nd, 2010 at 11:48 am
Can you verify the minimum age for someone who is wanting to use my timeshare?
April 7th, 2010 at 10:27 am
Dear Melody: Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News. With regard to villa occupancy and a minimum age, at least one registered guest in each villa must be at least 25 years old and willing to accept responsibility for the actions of all occupants if the rest of the party are under 25′s. A deposit is also requested in such cases. I hope that this answers your question.
April 15th, 2010 at 1:09 pm
With the new site upgrade I cannot find the phone number to the resorts. Could you please let me know the number for Royal Hacienda. Thanks
April 15th, 2010 at 5:00 pm
Dear Susan: Thank you for writing to Royal Resorts News. The Royal Resorts phone number is 011 52 998 881-0100 (001 if you are in US or Canada), the operator will then put you through to the The Royal Haciendas. You may also want the resort email. Emails sent to guests at the resort should include their name and villa number in the subject line and are received by the Front Desk. Staff will notify them. The email is as follows:
The Royal Haciendas recepcionrh@royalresorts.com
I hope that this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you with anything else.

Hi Joanna,
I did see you posted an answer to my question #27, on May 16th and have not heard further from you or the Sands, Phase 2.
I want to be able to have a FULL SIZE crib the week of June 26th (week #26) for my unit as well as a high chair. I understand the Haciendas have FULL SIZE cribs. Can I put in an order for this, and if so, please email me the phone number or email address for who handles this. My email address is 4fines@netzero.net.
Thanks so much, you’re doing a great job!
